About

Why “mishrag”

In school and college, my friends called me Mishra G. In north India people often address each other by surname, and the “G” (ji) is a mark of respect. I registered mishrag.com in 2009. I wrote here for a while, then stopped. Nobody calls me Mishra G anymore, but the name stayed, and so did the domain.

Why this site exists

I’m a shy person. Meeting new people has never come easily to me, but I often have bold ideas, and I want them to reach more people than the ones in the meeting room. Writing is how I’m practising that.

For most of my career I never kept a to-do list. I did what was asked of me, and did it well. Now I want to decide what is worth doing. This site is part of that change: a place to think strategically, in public.

How I got here

I started as a software engineer in Delhi. An offer took me to Kuwait, and from there to Dubai in 2023. Over 19 years I’ve worked across enterprise architecture, digital commerce platforms, cloud and DevOps, and leading engineering teams.

Outside work

Family comes first. That’s where my current project, Gharana, started. I go to the gym three days a week.

I’m not a photographer. Most of my photos were taken on a phone during work trips. What I actually love is walking alone: along beaches, and sometimes long walks through mountains, jungles, or just a road.
