Bucharest Romania

I went to Bucharest twice, mostly for work.
Much of the city’s architecture comes from the communist era. The trams, the underpasses, the structure of the city, the food and the winter: you can map all of it to the Soviet era. I went to Moscow after Bucharest, and I could relate the two.
Bucharest feels stuck between its old culture and the modern era. But you can find both flavours here.
The winter was very harsh, or at least that is how I felt at the time. The city is not very expensive, and you can get very fresh fruit and vegetables at very nominal prices.
